I have chosen to run as an unaffiliated, independent candidate because I believe strongly that partisan politics does not serve our county well. The major challenge for a non partisan campaign is that we do not have the amplification the major party candidates have, so we have to fight extra hard to get my name and my message in front of Deschutes County voters.

Here are the top 10 things you can do to help me get the word out:

1- Host a “get to know Maddie” event: dinner party, cocktail hour, game night, brunch, teatime.. Invite some friends over and talk to me about the issues. Not a hard sell event- we will have info on how to donate, but the focus of these events is to learn about my platform and increase my presence. 

2- Share and comment on social posts.  Likes don’t do much for engagement purposes but follows, shares, and comments really help. Facebook: Maddie for Deschutes; InstaGram: VoteMaddieForDeschutes.

3- Donate an in-kind item or service for a silent auction event in February.

4- Write me an endorsement to share- just a few sentences about why the public should trust me to represent them, a positive attribute, or anecdote of how you have seen me show up for my community. Please include how you would like your name to appear and a photo to accompany it. 

5- Write a letter to the editor of local publications- if you know of any media opportunities I would be grateful for the opportunity to present my campaign.

6- Help me connect with voters! Closer to the spring we will be doing postcards and mailers, we will need volunteers to help with that.  Same with door-knocking and canvassing

7- Word of mouth. Tell people I’m running and why you are supporting me. Encourage them to check out my socials and explore my website, especially the Local Issues page with a poll to vote on what issues people find most pressing.

8- send me your youth! I am looking for 16-25 year olds who are interested in being involved with the campaign and then transitioning to a resume-building position on a youth leadership coalition to help guide my votes on issues once I am in office. Bonus points if they are active on tik tok and can help me with content creation. 

9- bring your creativity! Do you have a fun idea for an art party? Are you amazing at creating engaging content? Do you have the equipment and expertise to help me make a compelling campaign ad?

10- Rep me in public! I have buttons, yard signs, and stickers on the way. If you want some swag please reach out!
